Running toilets
Each minute your toilet runs your water bill rises by a few cents. A constantly running toilet can add significant water costs every month.
Most common causes: failed flapper or overflow, and leaks in the supply valve.
Overflowing toilets
A significant blockage can prevent any water from moving into the sewer line and force it back up over the toilet bowl and into your bathroom. Overflowing toilets are a health hazard and if a plunger doesn’t immediately fix the issue you may only have a few minutes to call a plumber and prevent flooding.
Most common causes: foreign objects such as tissues flushed into the toilet drain, blocked traps, damaged sewer lines.
Water pooling at the base of the toilet
When water leaks from the base of the toilet, you may notice pooling water in the bathroom near the system. You may also notice water stains on the ceiling in the room below the bathroom, indicating a significant ongoing leak.
Most common causes: Misaligned valves and pipes, and poor sealing on the wax ring.
